The ancient capital of Armenia is a very original city. Here you can feel the whole flavor of this hospitable country no worse than somewhere in the local outback, where life slowly goes on as usual and has not changed for decades. At the same time, Yerevan is a modern and comfortable city for living. Well, and beautiful, of course, what a sin to hide — this is a fact.



  1. Yerevan is one of the most ancient cities on the planet, along with Rome and Istanbul (see interesting facts about Istanbul). In 2018, he turned 2,800 years old — a very impressive figure.

  2. Sometimes the Armenian capital is called the "pink city" because of the pinkish hue of most buildings. The reason for this color is the stone from which these very buildings are built. It is mined in Armenia and has such a feature.

  3. Yerevan can rightly be called one of the most mono-national cities in the world. Armenians make up almost 99% of the population here.

  4. There is no general architectural style here — everyone builds as he wants and what he wants. This diversity gives the city a peculiar charm. It's really cozy here, and you can walk around the streets for hour after hour, marveling at the samples of local architecture.

  10. The most prestigious car, according to the majority of local residents, is a Mercedes Hyundai. There are really a lot of these cars on the roads.

  11. Prices for renting or buying apartments in Yerevan are much lower than in Moscow.

  12. There is a metro in Yerevan, but it has only one line and a dozen stations.

  14. Free Wi-Fi can be found here in almost any corner of the city.

  15. A tourist will have no problems with the Russian language here — most of the local population speaks it. Young people are also actively learning English.

  16. Yerevan drivers are extremely reluctant to comply with traffic regulations. A tourist unaccustomed to such road chaos should drive extremely carefully.

  17. Oncoming cars often honk at each other — this is such a kind of local greeting.

  18. The most popular drink in Yerevan is coffee. Almost everyone drinks it, many cups a day.
